Spotlight On… – Moundir Dandani
The man behind the wheel: a short interview with Sim Racing System racers. Let’s know a little more of the guys that are always one place ahead.
Would you briefly introduce yourself for the site’s readers?
My name is Moundir Dandani from Algiers, the capital of Algeria, I’m 30 years old, I have a PhD in Physics (Fluid Dynamics) and I teach Physics in my local university.
What’s your racing wheel?
For now I’m using an old Logitech Driving Force GT as it’s my first wheel with force feedback.
Which are your favourite simracing games?
Assetto Corsa.
Favourite car(s)?
Honda S2000, Mazda RX7 FD, Datsun 280Z.
Favourite track(s)?
Brands Hatch, Donington Park.
Since when are you playing simracing games?
2012.
Which was your first racing game ever?
Live For Speed.
“I only attack when I see a clear opening.”
How do you prepare for a race and/or a championship?
Before every race I put no less than 30 laps of practice in the same conditions of the official race, I setup the car myself if needed and I always try to be as close as possible to the track records while being consistant.
Are you good in setupping cars? 🙂
I’m not a pro at it! But I know the basics and I can deal with the car’s unbalances.
Do you race in real life too?
Did some karting but I wish someday will have the chance to race real cars!
What you do like and what you don’t like in SRS races?
I like the community, the chance given by this system to people who can’t affoard membership in the big sims (like me LOL) to compete in the top level. There’s nothing I don’t like apart from the big number of crashers and people who don’t respect others, but this is the downside for being in a free to race system! Nothing to do about it, take it or leave it 🙂
“I like the SRS community.”
Which are your strongest and your weakest points in racing?
Strong point, I would stay in front of my opponents, I manage the pressure quit well. My weakness: I make a lot of mistakes when following another car, especially when we’re close in pace!
How would you define your racing style?
I would say neutral, not very aggressive in defending, and I only attack when I see a clear opening.
Thanks to Moundir Dandani for kindly answering our questions!
