SRS Season 2021.4 Week 1 Recap
And the 1st week of this new season is already over, so here it is the weekly recap!
PORSCHE 718 RS 60 SPYDER – Calabogie Stadium (CA)
Jason Jones wins the 1st race of the new Porsche 718 RS Championship! A great win for him, who beated Michal Janak, who was leading until the 6th lap, when Jason overtook him. 3rd place for Robert Duplanter, and then a 13 seconds gap between him and Riley Gallardo. 5th place for Jari Penttinen, just ahead of Ted Hough, who started in pole but spun later, recovering from the back. The standings are the same as the first 4 drivers, except for Maurice Klerken, who thanks to Penttinen and Hough’s incidents, managed to get more points than them. Next race, those little Porsches will go to the never used track (on SRS) of Putnam Park, in the US!
SEAT CUPRA LEON COMPETICION – Road Atlanta Short (US)
And Luke Bouwmeester is the winner of the 1st Cupra Leon race at Road Atlanta Short! The only one able to get under the 59 seconds wall, ended ahead of James Leeder, 1.1 seconds was the gap. 3rd place for Nick Barknecht (3 incidents), ahead of Ramiro Dominguez and Saagar Bakshi. In the championship, the first two places are, of course, held by Bouwmeester and Leeder, ahead of Vicente Da Silva (6th), Barknecht and Dominguez. Next week the Cupras will race in the new mod of the Sachsering!
HONDA CIVIC TYPE R EP3 – Donington National (UK)
Michael Martin wins the Honda Civic opening race! An excellent performance for him, who beated Michal Janak, 2nd. Behind him David Iglesias who took an incident, that brings him to equal points as Eduardo Cavalcanti. 5th Robert Duplantier, a bad race for him, taking 3 incidents. The 5th place in the championship is given to Nicholas Hall, 6th in the race with an incident. A terrifying race for the poleman, Alan Braz, who ended only in 10th place. Next week the race will be done at the short layout of the Paul Ricard!
MCLAREN F1 GTR – Road America (US)
Antonio Massad wins the Road America race! A great win for him, staying 1st every lap. Behind, an wonderful race that saw Javier Brandao ending 2nd. 3rd place for Nick Barknecht, who got 9 incidents (record?). 4th Daniel de mena, 1 second behind the podium, and 5th Ernesto Bethancourt. With all those incidents, the championship sees Paul Holmes 3rd (9th), ahead of Vicente Da Silva and Daniel de Mena. The next race will be Watkins Glen!
LADA 2101 SCC – Silverstone Classic (UK)
Canada will officially change name to CaLada. This was officialized after the first Lada’s race at the classic Silverstone, where the podium was just a thing between Jason Jones, David Broomhead and Martin Smith. A great fight between the last two, who helped Jason Jones to make a big gap, 16 seconds. 4th place for Robert Edmed, who ended just 185 milliseconds ahead of Rico Haas. In the championship, the three Canadians are on top, followed by Rico Haas and David Iglesias (6th). The next race will be done at Kemora, a track in Finland!
FERRARI 458 GT2 – Road America (US)
Erik Axelsson wins the 1st race of the AussieStig Ferrari 458 GT2 Championship! A superbe performance for him, who won by almost 10 seconds on Pablo Pardilla Vidal, in front of David Iglesias, almost taking him the 2nd place. David had a nice fight against Mark Puc, 4th. 5th place for Paul Baret. The standings are a bit different thanks to all the incidents, with Erik Axelsson 7 points ahead of Pablo. 3rd Mark Puc, in front of Ilmari Ylitalo (6th) and Paul Baret. The 2nd round will be held at the Road Course of Daytona!
LOTUS EXOS 125 S1 – Nurburgring GP GT (DE)
Another excellent win for Luke Bouwmeester! 23 seconds was the gap between him and the 2nd place, Riley Gallardo who was leading for a bunch of laps after Luke’s pit stop. 3rd place for Emiliano Videla, 13 seconds after Riley. Once again, 23 seconds behind the last podium place there’s Martin Vindis, who ended just 35 seconds before John Krahne. Short gaps, right? Anyway, the top 5 drivers in the standings are almost identical to the race results, except for Fabiano Azevedo, 2 points ahead of John Krahne. Silverstone GP will be the next race!
FERRARI SF70-H – Portimao (PT)
Those fast and “modern” F1 cars at Portimao were hard to master, and of course the most experienced open wheeler drivers were able to win with it. In the two races (the Friday one had some issues in the server) Filippo Di Maggio and Mostafa Moradi (the only one to get under the 1:20) won the races, both with a big difference to P2. The Saturday one saw Max Spied and Simon Meisinger on the podium, and then on Saturday Jorge Caro Almohalla and Matti Saastamoinen. The standings see Mostafa 1st, 3 points ahead of Filippo Di Maggio (win with one incident). 3rd place for Jorge Caro Almohalla, tied with Matti Saastamoinen. 5th Simon Meisinger. Next week the races will be done at the GP layout of Barcellona!
PEUGEOT 106 RALLYE S2 – Magione (IT)
The return of the Peugeot 106 saw unexpectedly fun races in the slow and twisty track of Magione. In this week, Matheus Nolli won 4 races out of his 4 attempts. 2nd place for Luigi Rinaldi, 4 wins but a 0.6 incident average. 3rd place for Victor Garcia de Vega, with 2 wins and 3 P2. Behind him, also with 2 1st places, Niklas Rauch. 5th place for a new driver, Russel Reyes, who got also 2 wins, but had a bad 3rd race where he got 4 incidents. The nest week, the beloved 106 will race at the finnish rollercoaster, Ahvenisto!
PORSCHE 911 GT3 CUP – Imola (IT)
Justin Barouky is the leader of the Porsche GT3 Cup Championship! 4 wins and 1 P2 was enough to bring him in the lead ahead of Jason Jones, who won two races. 3rd and 4th Russel Reyes and David Llorente, same results as Jason, but with more incidents. 5th place for Dimitry Syrkin, 1 win and 3 podiums. The next week the Porsche will go to the Paul Ricard!
DALLARA F317 – Zandvoort (NL)
Jaap Wagenvoort is the current leader of the F3 series! The driver that currently is 5th in the rating standings won 5 races this week. 2nd Balint Szoboszlai, just ahead of Luke Sutherland, both of them with 4 wins. 4th Eduardo Sa (3 wins and 2 P2) and 5th Eduardo Batalla (3 wins, 1 P2 and 1 P3). The next week will be raced at Okayama GP!
GT3 EURO – Silverstone GP (UK)
The European GT3 Championship is on the way, and the 1-hour master, Hugo Hekkenberg, is leading the championship with two wins and a 3rd place. 2nd a returning Dmitry Osovsky, who won two races and got a P4. 3rd Sergei Daniluk, who got a win in his single attempt, like Matteo Venuti, 4th, and Ethan Dean, 5th. The next week will be held at Spa-Francorchamps!
GT3 ASIA – Monza (IT)
The Asian GT3 championship starts at Monza, and Victor Solanes is the one that currently leads in the standings! 2 wins, just like Enzo Bourbon, 2nd, but with more incidents. 3rd Eduard Sundukov, 1 win and a 2nd place. Off the podium there are Dmitry Osovsky and Sergei Daniluk, 1 win for both. The next week the Asian series will be racing at Buriram!
GT3 AMERICA – Mosport (CA)
In the American GT3 championship Ethan Dean started dominating again! In the first two races, he managed to win both of them, ahead of Estefano Barrera Rodriguez (2 P2) and on Javier Brandao (on Friday) and Emiliano Videla (Saturday). The championship lead is, of course, held by Ethan Dean. 2nd Etefano Barrera Rodriguez, 3 points ahead of Javier Brandao and Emiliano Videla. 5th John Krahne.Next week the races will be done at Summit Point!
