SRS Season 2021.5 Week 4 Recap
Third week of the season, which provided some unexpected twists to the championships!
SUNBEAM GRAND PRIX โ Norisring Classic ๐ฉ๐ช
First and probably last race at the Norisring. While Jason Jones and Martin Smith were cruising into a clean finish, behind there were some war crimes. Crashes, flying cars, drivers almost sent out of the car after a crash into a light pole and so on. 3rd place for Juan Reinoso, who took the podium from Riley Gallardo at the penultimate lap. 5th place for Stefano Macchi. The championship is leaded by Jason Jones with 296 points, 31 more than Jari Penttinen. 3 points behind him there’s Martin Smith, who recovered a bit from his race ruined by his computer at Buenos Aires. 4th place for Robert Duplantier, after a great recovery drive from the back to P6 after a contact caused by Matteo Crashnuti. P5 for Riley Gallardo at 247 points, 3 less than Robert. Next week’s race will be at Donington Classic, hopefully it will be cleaner.

CHEVROLET CORVETTE C6R โ Calabogie ๐จ๐ฆ
Marc LoGiudice returns to win with the Corvette! A dominant win for the Canadian, who left Martin Smith almost 10 seconds behind him, followed by James Leeder who got an incident point with Oggi Pineas, losing 3 important points. 4th place for Greg Shimer, just 0.2 seconds ahead of Pasha Paterson. Thanks to his 3rd win, LoGiudice retakes the lead by 6 points on Leeder. 3rd place, 21 points behind P2, for Emiliano Videla, ended 6th and for the 4th consecutive race without an incident. He is followed by Oggi Pineas with 349 points, just 3 more of Pasha Paterson and Juan Illanes. Next week’s race will be done at Watkins Glen!

GINETTA G40 GT5 โ Watkins Glen Short ๐บ๐ธ
While behind it was simply a war to catch the best possible slipstream, in front Jussi Neirola won the race in front of Alex Leif. The Finn, in his 2nd win in a row, started really well, making a safe gap from Alex, just to lose it in the last few minutes of the race. They were really fast, since the group leaded by Robert Edmed, 3rd, ended 14 seconds behind the winner. Behind him there’s Lucas Biberacher followed by Philip Clegg. After the race, Neirola increases his lead to 15 points on Alex Leif, also thanks to the absence of David Iglesias. 10 points behind P2 sits Lucas Biberacher who is doing a great season (you will find later why). Michael Martin, 6th in the race, has 345 points, 40 more than the owner of the series James Tumilty. Next week the Ginetta will race at Mas Du Clos, i expect some barrel rolls at the exit of the last corners.
Fight for the 10th place
TOYOTA AE86 TUNED โ Road Atlanta ๐บ๐ธ
Guess what? Riley Gallardo and Matheus Nolli ended 1st and 2nd in the Toyota AE86 race! Surprising, isn’t it? Anyway, they are in a completely other league, since no one could access to the Top 2 except for Emiliano Videla who started 2nd at Brands Hatch (just to lose it in the first lap). 3rd place for Javier Brandao, ahead of Vicente Da Silva and, 14 seconds behind, Derik Abrego. The championship as expected sees Gallardo 1st, followed at 19 points by Nolli. 45 points behind him sits Brandao after his first podium in the series. 4th place for Abrego, ahead of Andreas Specht who missed this week’s race. The next round will be at Laguna Seca!

PAGANI HUAYRA โ Tsukuba ๐ฏ๐ต
Matteo Venuti wins at Tsukuba! A strong win for the Italian, giving 5 seconds on Philip Clegg and Jason Jones, who stopped for a backmarker doing a dance show in the middle of the track. Luckily, no one got incident points. Behind P2 and P3, there’s a little gap to Michal Janak and Robert Duplantier (about 18 seconds). The championship is still leaded by Jones who has 7 points on Venuti, and with two races to go everything can happen (two wins for Jones, of course). Then for the final podium place is happening a nice battle between Clegg, 358 points, followed by Janak and Lucas Biberacher at 350. After a race with cars definitely not suitable for this track, comparable to King Kong on a minibike, finally there’s a good track, Grobnik!

MAZDA MX-5 CUP โ Imola ๐ฎ๐น
Lucas Biberacher wins at Imola! His first win of the championship was a dominant victory, 20 seconds ahead of James Tumilty who got his best result ever in a race, he finished ahead of Jave Valido at his first attempt in racing with this car. Out of the podium there’s Michal Janak, just 0.5 ahead of Stuart Gomm in 5th place. The championship has now a great fight between Biberacher, the new leader, and Janak who are tied at 359 points, 25 more than James Tumilty in P3. 4th place for Handy Hanafiah, 6th in the race, 7 points ahead of Mark Puc. Next week’s race will be done at Donington GP!

ALFA ROMEO GIULIETTA SPIDER โ Feldbergring ๐ฉ๐ช
Martin Smith wins at the Feldbergring! A dominant win in the German track, 34 seconds ahead of Rick Longano in 2nd place. 3rd place for James Leeder, after a start from P8, finishing in front of Steve Walker and Jay Gabriel. Luckily, no one got over 20 incidents in this twisty track. After this race Longano leads the championship with 8 more points than Don Debienne. 3rd place for Gabriel, who got some incident points this race, resulting in a big loss for the championship. 4th place for Walker, ahead of Leeder who has missed the first week. Next week’s race will be done at Donington Classic!
F1 ’70s โ Bridgehampton ๐บ๐ธ
After one month of Czech domination, someone else won a race! The first race was normal, with Michal Ringes 1st, 41 seconds ahead of Max Spied and Danny Mueller, meanwhile Michal Janak had to fight against his PC for requiring an update in the middle of the race. The Saturday race was different, Ringes didn’t race and a surprise happened, since Matteo Venuti won the race with a lot of luck, despite an atrocious start, since the drivers fighting for the win, Collin Dunham and Rico Haas, crashed together. P2 for Janak and Donnchadh MacGarry, 3rd once again without any incident points. On Sunday, Ringes won again easily, 9 seconds in front of Dunham and Janak in 3rd. After this week, Ringes still leads with 405 points, 9 more than Janak. 22 points behind there’s MacGarry with two podiums. 4th place for Rico Haas, followed by Rob Russo. Next week’s races will be done at Jerez!

Cameron Winters is 5th, 400 points for him and 2 wins under his belt. Next week Hockenheim will be the track for the Mini!

PRAGA R1 โ Sentul ๐ฎ๐ฉ
The close fight between Riley Gallardo and Erik Axelsson seems to be coming to an end, since the gap between them is of 5 wins. Behind instead there’s a much closer battle for the podium, with Guillaume Dubois at 6 wins, 1 more than Colin Chilibeck and 2 on Matti Saastamoinen, 4 wins and 8 podiums. Watkins Glen will be the track for the next week!
