SRS Season 2021.6 Week 2 Recap
The recap is back for the 2nd week of the season!
LEGENDS CAR – Monza Classic Junior 🇮🇹
Robert Duplantier wins again! A win taken with two laps to go in the short layout of Monza on David Iglesias and Antonio Massad, who had some fuel issues. In this race, the fuel management was fundamental, since with a full tank the drivers (at least, the faster ones) were going to finish the fuel just on the last lap. 2nd place for Michal Janak, followed by Jari Penttinen. A stunning 4th place for Tim Masson, who started in 11th place. Behind him, David Iglesias who led the majority of the raceuntil the 18th lap. In the championship, thanks to his 2nd win, Duplantier safely leads the championship with 14 points on Penttinen. 4 points behind him there’s Janak who got an incident in the race. 4th place for Iglesias, just 2 points ahead of Masson. Goodwood will be the track for next week’s race!
FORMULA STUDENTS EVO – Tsukuba 🇯🇵
Another stunning race with the “go kart with bodywork” (cit. Roman Smirnov) at the Tsukuba circuit! A great race for Martin Smith, winning the race by 7 seconds on David Broomhead, who had quite a chaotic race. Started from pole, at the end of the 3rd lap he was 6th. 1.4 seconds behind him there’s Estefano Barrera Rodriguez. 4th place for Russell Sobie despite being in 2nd place for about 4 laps. Behind him there’s Rob Russo. Despite 2 2nd places, Broomhead is now leading the championship, 7 points ahead of this week’s winner Smith who only ended 8th in the first race. 2 points behind him, Sobie who ended on the podium last week. 4th place for Rob Russo, 1 point in front of Daniel de Mena, the winner of the Kemora race. Next week the Formula Students will race at the short layout of Summit Point!
FORD ESCORT RS – Okayama Piper 🇯🇵
Michal Janak wins again! The first two races were dominated by the Czech, and he doesn’t understand why it’s happening this. Anyway, he managed to win in a track where overtakes are really hard, but somehow we had some action during the 20 minutes of the 2nd round of the championship. A nice battle between Scott Pritchard, Robert Duplantier and Antonio Massad for the podium, with the Frenchman who managed to overtake Antonio with a nice move on the 13th lap. 5th place by a lucky Rico Haas, who overtook Matteo Venuti and Pedro Figueiras after their crash caused by the improvvise peak of ping of the Italian. After this race, Janak increase his championship lead to 11 points on Pritchard. 3rd place for Duplantier, 4 points ahead of Rico Haas. 19 points behind P4, sits Lucas Biberacher. Next week’s race will be done at Magione!
TATUUS FA01 – Assen Autosport 🇳🇱
Ryan Thomas wins at Assen! An amazing win for him, who gave almost 10 seconds to Riley Gallardo in P2, after starting in pole position. 3rd place for James Pendry who had 4 incidents. 4th place for Kevin Woodward, 7 seconds ahead of Daniel de Mena. Nothing really happened in the top places of the race this week, but probably just the difficult race of Raul Juarez, who was in P5 at the end of the 2nd lap, but his lack of pace sent him into 9th place at the end. Now Gallardo leads the championship after Emiliano Videla’s difficult race ended in P6 with two incidents. He is now 2nd, 6 points behind P1. 3rd place for Ernesto Bethancourth. 6 points behind the Panamian there’s James Pendry. 5th place for Raul Juarez, 1 point ahead of Juan Illanes. Sachsering will host the race of the next week!
MITSUBISHI LANCER EVO VIII TIME ATTACK – Road America 🇺🇸
Another chaotic race in some Lancer under steroids, this time Robert Duplantier won the race! Lucas Biberacher ends in 2nd place, just 1 second ahead of Philip Clegg, who got 2 incidents. 4th place for Robin Mitchell, who started in 2nd but had to recover some positions after a messy start. P5 for Christopher Magan. This championship lost two contenders, Mostafa Moradi and Daniel Claro after their horrendous actions on the Bus Stop. Thanks to this, and his P4 at the first round, Duplantier takes the lead of the championship 15 points ahead of Clegg. 4 points behind him there’s Lucas Biberacher after his P10 in the first race at Spa. He is 3 points ahead of Magan, who has a comfortably gap of 13 points on Michael Martin. Montreal will be the track for next week’s race, let’s see who will smash his car into the Wall of Champions!
RADICAL SR3 – Laguna Seca 🇺🇸
Exciting race for David Iglesias at Laguna Seca, who managed to win the 2nd round of the AussieStig series after putting Riley Gallardo under a lot of pressure, until his mistake on the penultimate lap who gave the win to the Spaniard. 3rd place for Simon Speth who was also defending hard from Erik Axelsson. Then another 5th place for Alex Leif. Now the championship is as closest as ever, with Speth and Iglesias tied at 197 points. 10 points behind them, there’s Gallardo, just with 3 more points than Axelsson and 7 on Alex Leif. Next week the Radical will race at Donington GP!
TARK ESTONIA-21 – VIR Full 🇺🇸
Dominant race for James Leeder! He led every lap, starting from pole and doing also the fastest lap, finishing 7.6 seconds ahead of David Broomhead, the only one able to match his pace. 3rd place for Jay Gabriel just ahead of Steve Walker, 47 seconds behind the winner. 5th place for Rick Longano. After this race, Broomhead is still leading the championship but with just 3 points on Leeder who ended 3rd in the first race at Kyalami. P3 for Gabriel, 14 points ahead of Walker. 5th place for Chris Saucier tied with Longano at 162 points. Grobnik will be the track for next week!
FORD TRANSIT – Ahvenisto 🇫🇮
The moment everyone was looking for, the Transit race was one of the more waited moments in human history. After last week’s chaos, this time the race was much cleaner, and saw Ted Hough winning ahead of Philip Clegg. 3rd place for Martin Smith, followed by Riley Gallardo and Jari Penttinen. Shame for David Iglesias, who was leading for half of the race, but then he lost lots of places, ending 7th behind Simon Speth. Simon is still leading the championship, thanks to his formidable win at Calabogie. 2nd place for Gallardo, 2 points ahead of both Sergio Mendez and Smith tied at 179 points. 5th place for Penttinen. This meme championship, next week, will race at Croft!
F1 2005 RENAULT VS MCLAREN – Nurburgring GP 🇩🇪
The two races at the Nurburgring GP were a bit crazy, with some unexpected results. On Saturday, Albert Thoms won the race ahead of Mostafa Moradi, who was sent off the track by a backmarker (wow, unexpected), resulting in heavy damages to his car and 3 incidents. 3rd place for Jonathan Lyle who got his 1st ever podium in this platform. The 2nd race was less chaotic, despite a strange 1st lap, where both Moradi and Daniel Claro retired. The win was given to Antonio David, ahead of Vitor Ribeiro Goncalves and Matteo Venuti, who had to defend hard from Jose Leonardo Gil Sierra. After this week, Mostafa Moradi leads the championship, 4 points ahead of Sierra and Venuti, tied at 184 points. 4th place for Lucas Biberacher, 14 points ahead of Toni Zachow. Silverstone GP will be the track for the two races next week!
ABARTH 500 ASSETTO CORSE – Calabogie Stadium 🇨🇦
Andrea Giusto leads the Abarth championship with 4 wins out of 4 races! His single win the last week gave him the lead ahead of Tim Masson, who won 3 races. 3rd place for Roberto Accurso, 3 wins and a P2 with 204 points. 4th place for Roman Bisanz with a 99 this week, now he is tied with Steven Busuttil at 201 points and 2 wins. Vallelunga Club will be the track for next week!
GP3 SERIES – Portimao 🇵🇹
Roman “2 seconds faster than anyone else” Smirnov is leading the championship! With his 8 wins in 8 races, his championshp seems to be already in his hands, hoping that he won’t be Henrique’d. 2nd place for Martin Sorg with 2 wins, the same as Francisco Lores in P3. 4th place for Marc LoGiudice at 201 points and 2 wins, ahead of Steven Busuttil with 200 points and 1 win. Silverstone will hosts next week’s races!

GT3 EURO – Imola 🇮🇹
Good week for the European GT3 at Imola, especially for the championship leader Fredrik Soderstedt. 4 races with the Lamborghini Huracan and Audi R8 LMS 2016 for him with 3 wins and a P2 are enough to stay in the lead of the series, with 3 points on Scott Pritchard (McLaren 650S) who got a 99 this week. 3rd place for Victor Posada (McLaren 650S), 4 points ahead of Lucas Biberacher (McLaren 650S) and 7 on Matteo Venuti who used again the old McLaren MP4-12C. The Nordschleife will be the track for next week!
GT3 ASIA – Brands Hatch GP 🇬🇧
Oh my god! Two races in the GT3 Asian Series! On monday, Emils Malkalns managed to win in front of Donald Brown and Paul de Jong, who quitted after 36 minutes. The 2nd race on Sunday saw Dario Cabrero winning ahead of Diego Demarchi and Zain Haider. Malkalns leads the championship ahead of Cabrero (he got an incident). 3rd place for Haider, ahead of De Jong and Sebastiaan Sprong, tied at 92 points. Kyalami should be the track for next week, but probably no one will race there. I think.
GT3 AMERICA – Nordschleife Endurance-Cup 🇩🇪
The Nordschleife is back in the 1-Hour championships! Josh Prior won the first race with one incident, 17 seconds ahead of Thomas Muller and 40 on John Cannon. 4th place for Ryan Thomas, ahead of his championship rival Emiliano Videla. No one got over 20 incidents in the race, but the following day was much much worse.
