This season is over, the championships have been decided and the drivers are training for the next season!
LEGENDS CARS – Kemora 🇫🇮
Antonio Massad wins the final race of the Legends Cars championship, while Robert Duplantier takes his 3rd championship! In a track where overtakes are a bit difficult, he won in front of Michal Janak and Duplantier who also got an incident at the start of the race. 4th place for Jari Penttinen, who ended ahead of Rob Russo. Duplantier wins the championship with 592 points, 15 more than Penttinen who ended the championship without a single incident. Behind him there’s Janak, 11 points behind the Finn, taking his third P2. 4th place for Rob Russo, 14 points ahead of Tim Masson (6th). This championship is going to be replaced by a stunning Shelby Cobra!
FORMULA STUDENTS EVO – VIR North 🇺🇸
David Broomhead wins the last race of the Formula Students series and became the champion, winning his 6th title! He dominated the race in front of Martin Smith, who was first just during the pit stop shuffle. 3rd place for Juan Illanes, ahead of Pasha Paterson who had a rollercoaster race, being 2nd until his early pit-stop, then he recovered until P4 some seconds ahead of Russell Sobie. Broomhead ended his championship with 571 points, 33 more than Sobie. 3rd place for Rob Russo (7th in the race), who’s leading an hot group of drivers, just 3 points ahead of Paterson, 7 on Jay Gabriel (8th) and 8 on Illanes in P6. The next week this car is going to be replaced by the 2015 Ford Mustang!
FORD ESCORT RS – Paul Ricard WTCC 🇫🇷
Michal Janak is the champion of the Ford Escort series, taking his 8th championship win! His dominance with this car was undisputable, winning every single race taking pole in each one, except for last week. He won ahead of Robert Duplantier, who had a little fight against Matteo Venuti who ended 3rd, in front of Michael Martin who had the pace to catch him, but suddenly lost the pace after a group of backmarkers. 5th place for Rico Haas, who takes the final podium position in the standings, obviously behind Janak, who ends with 606 points, and Duplantier 45 behind. 4th place for Rob Russo (6th), 14 points ahead of Danny Mueller (11th). Next season the lovely Escort will be replaced by the BTCC 1999 cars, with the Primera and BMW 320!
TATUUS FA01 – Mas du Clos 🇫🇷
Martin Smith despite two incidents wins at Mas du Clos, 5 seconds ahead of Javier Brandao, but third comes Riley Gallardo, who after a pole position ended just on the lowest step of the podium, wins his 4th championship! Behind him sits Derik Abrego ahead of Diego Cisneros. The lead of the race was a bit cursed, since both James Pendry and Ryan Thomas, who both leaded the race at some point, retired. Gallardo won the championship with 50 more points than Emiliano Videla (7th in the race). 3rd place for Kevin Woodward (6th), 9 points in front of Derik Abrego and 36 on Raul Juarez (8th). The Daytona prototypes will be used for the next season!
MITSUBISHI LANCER EVO VIII TIME ATTACK – Mugello 🇮🇹
Dramatic finish for the Lancer championship! Robert Duplantier was leading safely the race, until the end of the penultimate lap. He went into the pits to add some more fuel, but thanks also to two incidents he didn’t get enough points to win the title, since Philip Clegg wins the race and become for the first time a championship winner by just 4 points! 2nd place for Christopher Magan, who ended ahead of the previous leader. 4th place for Michael Martin, ahead of Lukasz Twardowski. So behind Clegg and Duplantier, there’s Martin with just one podium being his unexpected win at Montreal. 4th place for Lucas Biberacher who missed this last race, and Magan ends 5th. Next season this championship will be done with a Lamborghini Aventador!
RADICAL SR3 – Cadwell Park 🇬🇧
What a crazy race at Cadwell Park! The last race of the championship was thrilling, with the 4 championship contenders fighting for the podium and, of course, for the win. Despite some contacts between the pack, Riley Gallardo wins the race and wins his 2nd championship of the season! Erik Axelsson ends second with 6 incs, 3 tenths ahead of David Iglesias. Out of the podium there’s Simon Speth, who started in a disappointing 5th place. That position was taken by Guillaume Dubois. Despite this crazy race, nothing changed in the standings. Gallardo wins his 5th title with 10 points more than Speth. 3rd place for Iglesias, followed by Axelsson. 5th place for Guillaume Dubois. This championship is going to be replaced by the Ginetta GT3!
TARK ESTONIA-21 – Mas du Clos 🇫🇷
David Broomhead wins the championship! After a brilliant performance, finishing almost 40 seconds ahead of Luke Bouwmeester and over one minute from his season rival James Leeder, he takes his 7th title! In the race, Jay Gabriel ended 4th a lap down, same as Leonardo Montagnolli, who got 2 incs. Broomhead ended the series with 14 more points than Leeder, who had an enormous gap of 55 points on Gabriel. 7 points behind 3rd there’s Rick Longano (6th in the race). 5th place for Montagnolli. The Mazda MX5 Time Attack will be replacing this championship!
FORD TRANSIT – Charade Long 🇫🇷
Ahh the Transit. The perfect racing vehicle for real racing drivers. Robert Duplantier wins at home in the 1-hour long race at Charade, a track that has killed many drivers with the van. 1.4 seconds behind him there’s Riley Gallardo, who (surprise surprise) wins another title! 3rd championship of the season for him and 7th title on SRS. P3 for Joel Pacteau, with his first podium in the series. Almost 30 seconds behind him sits Jari Penttinen, followed by Sergio Mendez. Gallardo wins the championship with 565 points, 19 more than Mendez who has 6 more points than Penttinen. 4th place for Duplantier, 8 points ahead of Philip Clegg. The Porsche 908 LH will replace the beloved Transit.
F1 2005 RENAULT VS MCLAREN – Spa-Francorchamps 🇧🇪
In the last two races of the weekend series, Brigido Hernandez and Matteo Venuti won the two races, with Venuti who wins his 2nd title! 2nd place for Lucas Biberacher, who ended just 3 points ahead of Toni Zachow who got his first seasonal podium. 4th place for Clemens Bauer, ahead of Jose Leonardo Gil Sierra. The Formula Hybrid 2018 will replace the 2005 F1 cars for the next season!
ABARTH 500 ASSETTO CORSE – Silverstone National 🇬🇧
An intense last few days in the Abarth series, who saw Andrea Giusto winning ahead of Roberto Accurso by just 3 wins! For Andrea this is his 3rd title. P3 place for Michal Janak with 3 wins, 5 points ahead of Roman Bisanz with 4 P1s. 5th place for Tim Masson with 4 wins and 9 podiums. The Tatuus FA01 will replace this championship!
GP3 SERIES – Barcellona GP 🇪🇸
Roman Smirnov’s 1st title was just a formality, given his total dominance of 21 wins out of 22 races. Most of the times, no one was able to match his formidable pace. The award “Best of the Rest” goes to Alex Geier, with 6 wins and 602 points, followed by Martin Sorg who got 3 wins and 15 podiums. 1 point behind him there’s Francisco Lores with 5 wins, followed by Paul Smyth, the 2nd fastest driver with this car. Next season the Austin Mini Cooper S (the old model) will replace the GP3!
PORSCHE CAYMAN GT4 – Okayama GP 🇯🇵
Erik Sundstrom wins the championship and become a 7 time champion! With 21 wins and 5 podiums, he took the title in a dominant way, leaving again Roberto Accurso in 2nd place with 9 wins. 3rd place for Matteo Venuti, who was 6th at the end of the last week, but took advantage of the 2nd places taken by Roman Bisanz (4th) and Kevin Turner (5th) at the last week to finish on the podium. The Lotus Evora GX will replace this championship!
GT3 EURO – Spa-Francorchamps 🇧🇪
Fredrik Soderstedt wins the championship with 612 points! 2nd championship win for him, after 7 victories and 7 podiums. 2nd place for Victor Posada, 1 point ahead of Matteo Venuti, despite having 3 more wins. 4th place for Tim Cullingworth, 26 points ahead of James Tumilty. The next season this championship will be with the Porsche 911 RSR 2017!
GT3 ASIA – Paul Ricard Blancpain 🇫🇷
GT3 AMERICA – VIR Full 🇺🇸
Emiliano Videla wins again the 1-Hour American championship! In the last race, won by Luke Bouwmeester by just 0.1 seconds on Pasha Paterson (probably a mistake at the end), Videla managed to finish 3rd taking enough points to win his 2nd championship. At the end of the championship the Argentinian had a gap of 33 points on Paterson. 3rd place for Kevin Pruscha, ahead of Greg Shimer and Ryan Thomas.
