2nd 4Fun Grand Prix Results
The 2nd edition of the 4Fun Grand Prix, amidst great battles and lots of fun, has come to an end, so let’s relive the highlights together before announcing the winners.
The 2nd Edition was born from the collaboration between the 4Fun Sim Racing Team and the HR Racing (N. Hall, A. Roberts), PleasePushMe Simracing (N. Bachetti, S. Casamonti, S.Pinto) and Team Havoline (J.Alberdi, M.Janak, E.Odriozola, M.Nolli) teams, which were fundamental for the success of this event 🙏.
This time we left the modern GT3 cars behind and went back in time to jump on board the Alfa Romeo GTA and the Lancia Fulvia HF to face off at the American Limerock Raceway, which won the Community vote ahead of Autodrom Most and Franciacorta.
The event was structured with a week-long qualifying session, where everyone had the opportunity to challenge, compare and improve, from which M. Klerken came out on top with a time of 01:05.712, just +0,072s and +0.224s ahead of T.Hough and N.Bachetti respectively, to occupy the first 3 positions on the starting grid (Click here for more details). The Qualify is followed by two 15-minute races, the second of which with the grid reversed up to the 10th finishing position in Race 1.
To add additional fun, the participating pilots were divided into teams of 2 drivers, trying to maintain the original teams. Here are the teams:
- 4Fun GTA – D. Bucalo & M. Venuti
- 4Fun Fulvia – M. Klerken & S. Saviolo
- HR Racing – N.Hall & A. Roberts
- PPM Simracing – N. Bachetti & S. Casamonti
- Team Havoline – M. Janak & J. Alberdi
- The Outsiders 1 – T. Hough & R. Duplantier
- The Outsiders 2 – R. Smirnov & J. Pendry
The race started after a brief postponement due to bad weather and immediately the first battles began, which led to several upsets in the standings, caused by several overtakes, spins, incidents and reckless cars.
From all this, M.Klerken got the better of it, maintaining 1st position and securing 25pts, followed by A. Roberts who gained 2 positions and secured the second step of the podium thanks to his rock solid pace (best consistency of the field: 99.14%!).
Third step of the podium for R. Smirnov, who started from the last position (he did not record any time in qualifying) and made a spectacular comeback. Fortune did not help T.Hough who, despite his excellent starting position, was involved in some unfortunate contacts forcing him to 6th position. However, he demonstrated his speed by setting the best race laptime of 1:05:588.
Time to finish the celebrations for the first race and the drivers return to the track, but perhaps because of the champagne, they have repositioned the cars as in the previous race. Another postponement of the start and again all ready to go (with inverted grid).
From the first position starts N. Bachetti, who finished race 1 in 10th place despite an excellent qualifying (was it a strategy to play his chances of victory in race 2?). M. Venuti, S. Saviolo and R. Duplantier started behind him to try and threaten the first position. But the best of the Race 1? They started from the back of the field but nothing could stop them and they climbed up several positions to fight for the victory.
Race 2 saw T. Hough got his redemption from race 1 by taking the top step of the podium, followed by R.Smirnov who also recorded the best laptime of Race 2 (and of the whole event) of 01:05.378. R. Duplantier, who made the most of the second chance given to him by the reversed grid, which combined with the best race pace (98.96% consistency), took a well-deserved third place.Another good race for A.Roberts who, after the second position in Race 1, finished 4th, followed in 5th position by M.Klerken, winner of Race 1.
Straight to the point: The winner of the 2nd edition of the 4Fun Grand Prix is Maurice Klerken!🎉 The 4Fun Sim Racing driver took advantage of the pole position and got the win in Race 1 and thanks also to the 5th place in Race 2 he accumulated a total of 35pts, useful to get the first position in the standings.
Just 2 points behind are the two fastest drivers on the track, T. Hough and R. Smirnov, with Ted taking second place in the standings by virtue of his excellent win in Race 2.
The Team Standings were won by The Outsiders 1, consisting of T. Hough and R. Duplantier, congratulations!🎉
In conclusion, as mentioned in the briefing, not everyone had a chance to win tonight, but everyone had a fun time and that was the biggest victory for all of us!
