SRS Season 2022.1 Week 1 Recap
After a few months of absence, the weekly recap is back for the start of this new season!
MCLAREN F1 GTR – Kyalami ๐ฟ๐ฆ
Simon Speth wins the first race at Kyalami! A perfect win by the German who was the only one to go under the 44, mastering a really difficult car, even for the most experienced of drivers. Second place for Matija Rasinec, 1.4 seconds behind Simon. 3rd place for Tadej Zupevc, after starting in 5th place. Out of the podium there’s Lucas Biberacher, ahead of Jari Penttinen. Since it’s the first race of the championship, the standings don’t differ much from the race classification, so Speth is leading on Rasinec, 3rd place for Zupevc, two points ahead of Penttinen and 3 on Biberacher. Daytona Road Course will be the track for the next week!

PORSCHE 911 GT AMERICA – Brands Hatch GP ๐ฌ๐ง
Martin Smith dominates the first race of this championship, ending 20 seconds ahead of Ramiro Dominguez, 2nd. Lowest spot of the podium for Vicente da Silva, who made a really good race after qualifying in 8th place, finishing ahead of Pasha Paterson and Oggi Pineas. Obviously Smith leads the championship, 4 points ahead of Dominguez and 10 on Da Silva. 4th place for Paterson, 1 point ahead of Handy Hanafiah (6th in the race) and Pineas. Next week’s race will be done at Mosport!

TARK ESTONIA-25 – Donington GP ๐ฌ๐ง
Lucas Biberacher wins the first race at Donington! A really close win for him, since Steen Toudal was on his back for all the race, ending with less than one second of gap. 3rd place for Antonio Massad, who took the podium on the final lap from Matija Rasinec, the poleman. Just 3 tenths behind the Croatian, there’s Jari Penttinen. No incidents in the top 5, so the standings follow exactly the race results. Croft will be the track for the next week!

TATUUS FA01 – Brands Hatch GP ๐ฌ๐ง
A really intense week at Brands Hatch, where this week 4 championships were held. This caused many problems, since after some races with the Porsche 911 GT America and Cup, the marshalls/race officials couldn’t afford another race since they were eating fish ‘n chips near the track. Next week they shouldn’t have problems, despite racing at Monza, where the F3 series was held last week.
FORD MUSTANG BOSS 429 – Riverside Long ๐บ๐ธ
Excellent start of the season for Jari Penttinen, who wins the 1st race of the Ford Mustang championship! Another great race for Matija Rasinec, who takes the 2nd place, ending 10 seconds ahead of Rico Haas, who took advantage of Mikhail Ogurtsov’s decline, who after a great start lost two positions, one on Rico and another one on the last lap from Michal Janak, who took the 4th place. The standings remains the same expect for Ogurtsov, who goes down tp P7 thanks to his 2 incs, who gave to Michael Martin the 5th place. Laguna Seca will host the next race of this championship!

GINETTA G55 GT4 – Vallelunga ๐ฎ๐น
James Pendry wins at Vallelunga! He never lost the lead, despite having Riley Gallardo and Emiliano Videla about 1.5/2 seconds behind for all the race. The Argentinian started 5th, but overtook on the first lap Martin Smith and in the middle of the trace Ramiro Dominguez, who ended 4th. Smith took 2 incidents, and his spot was taken by Russell Sobie, 6th in the race. The next race will be held in Austria, at the Red Bull Ring!

PORSCHE 911 RSR 2017 – Road Atlanta ๐บ๐ธ
Not the winner we all expected before the race, in fact Urko Gonzalez wins at Road Atlanta, ahead of Tadej Zupevc, who started 6th, and Gaetano Santonicola, from P7. Mark Puc ended 4th, ahead of Ilmari Ylitalo, who took this position on the final lap from Mikhail Ogurtsov. No one expect for Puc took an incident, so the series hoster lost a position on the standings in favour of Ylitalo. Brands Hatch will be the track for the next week!

MERCEDES 190E EVO II – Watkins Glen ๐บ๐ธ
Luke Bouwmeester wins the opening race of this championship at Watking Glen! He led the race from start to finish, except for a single lap due to the pit stops shenanigans. 2nd place for Martin Smith, ahead of Riley Gallardo. 4th place, after starting 2nd, for James Leeder who ended the race one year light ahead of 5th place, Carson Engemoen. Nothing changes in the standings leading into the 2nd race of the championship, which will be done at Bridgehampton!

LOTUS 72D – Watkins Glen Short ๐บ๐ธ
A criticised race due to the fixed setup, then for some reason open in the server, saw the win of Austin Ogonoski, 1.6 seconds ahead of Claudio Polidori, who lost the lead with 5 laps to go. 3rd place for Michal Janak, finishing ahead of the other Michal, Ringes. 5th place for Virgilio Bomfim, after starting 9th. Thanks to Ringes’ incident point, Bomfim takes the 4th place in the standings. Vallelunga will host the race next week!

FERRARI 312/67 – Silverstone Classic ๐ฌ๐ง
In one of the hardest cars of the season, the two races of the weekend series were not really eventful especially at the top. The first race was won by Giuseppe Iaria, 6 seconds ahead of Matteo Venuti. 3rd place for Michal Ringes, followed close by Michal Janak. Behind them, an 18 seconds gap from Rico Haas, who couldn’t stay close to them. The 2nd race saw Collin Dunham finishing ahead of Janak after a close end, with just 6 tenths separating them. 3rd place for Rico Haas, followed by Clemens Bauer and Danny Mueller. Iaria leads the championship, tied with Dunham. 3rd place for Venuti, also tied with Janak. Another tie for 5th place between Ringes and Haas, both at 95 points. The old Watkins Glen will host the next races!

DALLARA F317 – Monza ๐ฎ๐น
The start of this championship brought many incidents into turn 1, but also a great fight for the top places in the championship. Jaap Wagenvoort leads the championship with 4 wins, 1 more than everyone from P2 to P5. In fact Ilmari Ylitalo, Luke Sutherland, Justin Barouky and Ivan Olisiejuk Ayuso are all at 3 wins, some of them with podiums. Donington National will be the track for the next week, let’s see who will come at the top!

HONDA CIVIC TYPE R EP3 – Donington National ๐ฌ๐ง
A new face at the top of the standings, in fact Sandro Chanturia, from Georgia (not the US state), cleared the field on the first week of the season, winning 5 races out of 5 participations. Behind him there’s an Italian group, led by Marco Armosini with 2 wins, the same as Dario Piccardo and Matteo Venuti. 5th place for Toro, ahead of everyone else with 1 win (7 other drivers). Cadweel Park will be the track used for the next races!

GT3 DAILY – Nurburgring GP GT ๐ฉ๐ช
An unusual (and not balanced) combination of GT3 cars for this championship, and Andrzej Gruska after the first week leads the championship tied with Mateusz Tokarski with two wins, the only drivers to get more than one win in the first week. 7 other drivers got 102 points and a win, but the first 3 are Alexey Sokolov, Mikko Eerola and Matteo Venuti. Grobnik will be the track used for the next week of racing!

PORSCHE 911 GT3 CUP DAILY โ Brands Hatch ๐ฌ๐ง
An wonderful start of this championship for Walter Toro, who took the lead of the championship winning in 4 out of 5 races this week! The only other race was won by Andrzej Gruszka, who is 4 points ahead of Dimitri Syrkin (1 P2 and 1 P3) and Felipe Nester (1 P2). 5th place another tie between Christopher Myles and Rico Haas, with the same exact stats. Calabogie will be the track for the next week!

PORSCHE 911 GT3 CUP EURO โย Brands Hatch ๐ฌ๐ง
In the two races of the Euro championship, Mateusz Tokarski won the first race of the championship! He is the only one with the maximum amount of points, since Rico Haas, who won the 2nd race, got an incident. 3rd place for Hugo Hekkenberg, tied with Gwenael Mignot at 98 points. 5th place for Martin Kraaijenbrink. Calabogie will also be the track for the next week!

PORSCHE 911 GT3 CUP AMERICA – Laguna Seca ๐บ๐ธ
A single race to start this championship, and Matheus Freitas took advantage from it, winning ahead of Walter Toro, who took the 2nd place on the last lap from Andreas Specht. 4th place for Oggi Pineas, ahead of Rafael Sullivan. Of course, the standings remains the same. Next week the American championship will go to Mosport!
